Plant Impact signs distribution deal

Crop nutrition and protection products developer Plant Impact, which is quoted on AIM, has signed a distribution and evaluation agreement with Holland’s Cebeco Meststoffen BV.

The deal grants Cebeco exclusive distribution rights to Plant Impact’s InCa, PiNT Ca, PiNT K and Alethea K products in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg for certain markets (excluding golf courses and home and garden). Cebeco also gains evaluation rights for Germany.

Plant Impact and Cebeco have planned over 50 research standard trials as part of their joint development programme. The Netherlands is a technically advanced farming nation which has influence on the rest of the world’s agricultural industries. “Plant Impact and Cebeco have developed a close working relationship developing field trial programmes, sharing data and resources. We believe that the Dutch market is key to Plant Impact both commercially and technically and having a partner like Cebeco will ensure maximum market potential," said Peter Blezard, Plant Impact’s chief executive officer.

This latest deal follows Plant Impact’s agreement with Agrimatco, which has exclusive evaluation and distribution rights to a number of products in countries in the Middle East, North Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Crop nutrient products will be evaluated until the end of 2011.

The plan is that there will eventually be country-by-country agreements. Agricultural products distributor Agrimatco has operations in 50 countries.

In an unrelated move, the UK Government has backtracked on its policy to provide feed-in-tariffs (FiTs) for the solar sector. The UK Government’s argument is that the prices of solar modules have fallen substantially since the policy was first put in place, and that the FiT subsidy now permits solar installers to make an unjustifiable return on their investments.
