ARC Energy, or the Advanced Renewable Energy Company, LLC, was founded in 2007 by Kedar Gupta (also founder of GT Solar). The company, based in New Hampshire, is developing automated sapphire crystal growth and processing equipment to make LEDs with sapphire as a substrate. Backers include venture capital firm General Catalyst and Citizens Bank of New Hampshire.
