The Stelios Award for the Young Cleantech Enrepreneur of 2010 was presented in Monaco in March 2010 to Crijn Bouman of Epyon. Epyon, a Dutch company, has developed smart-charging solutions for electric vehicles. It can off er ultrafast charging and supplies a range of web-connected smart-chargers and software/service interfaces for charging station operators and EV fl eet owners. The initial target markets are professional fleets, including ‘indoor’ fl eets (forklifts, pallet trucks, airport and industrial cleaning equipment). The ‘outdoor’ market, which is also targeted, includes vans, buses, taxis and other fleet operated vehicles. Epyon expects to roll out consumer electric vehicle products from 2011. On presenting the award, Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannu, founder of Easyjet, commented that one of the attractions of Epyon is that its product is ‘brandable’. Perhaps we should be watching out for the ‘easycharging’ stations in the future?
