German turbine manufacturer, Fuhrlander, plans to manufacture wind turbines in the Brazilian State of Ceará, according to Jornal da Energia. The publication reports, in an interview with Newton Lima of Fuhrlander, that the company is finalising a contract on a plant, on which work would commence this year.

The company believes that it will close contracts with new customers in the third quarter of the year. Lima is reported as saying that Fuhrlander is talking to various participants in the forthcoming auction and is aiming to close 300 MW in contracts.

Furhlander plans to build a plant to construct 2.5 MW turbines (the model manufactured in its German plant). The location will be the area of portuária do Pecém, on the coast of Ceará. Construction will take eight months and Lima reportedly confirmed that the target is for inauguration in June 2012.

Fuhrlander recently opened a plant in Ukraine, consolidating its position in Europe, and is considering building a manufacturing plant in the US.
