An expert panel of speakers will debate what the transport fuel mix of the future will be - and the implications for investors. The session will kick off with a keynote vision of a hydrogen future from Graham Cooley, ITM Power. He will be joined by expert speakers to discuss the investment opportunities in biofuels, battery power and advanced fossil fuels. The panel will include Dominic Emery, BP Alternative Energy (focusing on biofuels); Martin Dare Edwards, Infineum (on the role of additives to improve fuel efficiency); Caroline Watson, Energy Savings Trust (providing a review of the use of battery EVs in fleets); Ashutosh Shastri, EnerStrat Consulting (who will speak on the potential for natural gas and LNG in transport fuels, including shipping); and Francis Wright, Turquoise, who will chair the panel.

This session will review the engineering developments which are changing the nature of transport - from advances in drivetrain technology for electric vehicles to innovations in lightweight composite materials - and intelligent vehicle technology. The key focus will be on the investment opportunities arising in the engineering space. The session will commence with a keynote address from Andreas Schamel, Managing Director of the European Ford Research Center, Chief Engineer Powertrain Research & Advanced Engineering, Europe. He will be followed by Dr.-Ing. Sae Hoon Kim - Principal Research Engineer (fuel cells) at Hyundai Motor Company; Kevin Lindsey, Axon Automotive (composite materials) and Ashley Kells, Intelligent Energy (hybrid drivetrains).

11.50 am - City Transport & Infrastructure (The Chamber, City Hall)
Events such as the Olympic Games can provide valuable lessons on how to manage a city transport infrastructure. The concentration of populations in urban centres will increasingly focus attention on the challenges of city transport. This panel will focus on the importance of infrastructure for the transport solutions of the future - with a particular emphasis on the roll-out of EV infrastructure and EV charging technology and the investment opportunities in these markets. Speakers will include; Peter Bonfield, BRE (who will speak on the integration of transport into the built environment); Martin Hale, ABB (fast charging technology); David Martell, Chargemaster (who will review the rise of the use of telematics in EVs, in conjunction with charging infrastructure); Anthony Thomson, Qualcomm (who will speak on inductive charging technology). The panel will also include forecasts for the future of the two wheel powered transport market from Jamie Masterman, Rieju Moto - and an overview of Personal Rapid Transit systems from Adam Ruddle, UltraPRT.

A series of 'Dragon's Den' style pitches by companies to a panel of investment industry professionals including Jerneja Loncar, GM Ventures; Mark Henderson, LDC; Rob Wylie, WHEB Partners; Dominic Emery, BP Alternative Energy.
The panel will select a Future Transport Challenge Winner for the best presentation - winner to be announced at the Future Challenge Awards evening reception.

The growing economies of Asia, Latin America and elsewhere are creating massive new markets for the automotive and other transport industries - in particular city transport. This short session will touch on the potential investment and trade opportunities emerging in new markets - and how the UK can reach out to benefit from these. London Assemby Member and Deputy Mayor Kit Malthouse will make a keynote address and will be joined by Ke Gang Wu, British China Chamber of Commerce / Link2China.

4.30 pm - Innovation in Motor Sport (The Chamber, City Hall)
Motor sports are hotbeds of innovation. This session will look at new technologies in fields such as fuel efficiency emerging from sports like Formula 1 racing. It will also touch on the role of dedicated 'zero emissions' racing events such as the Isle of Man TTZero and the TTXGP - and will focus on the implications for investment. There will be a keynote address from Patrick Head, Co-founder, Williams F1 and Williams Hybrid; Javier de Rocafort, Quimera Project/Balmoral Capital, Azhar Hussain, founder and CEO of the TTXGP World Championship, and Courtenay Heading, Isle of Man Government.
