Participating Companies and Organisations

Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG)

AREG is at the cutting edge of Scottish and UK efforts to build a sustainable renewable energy industry in a globally competitive market. AREG was launched in 2001, when offshore renewables were barely on the UK energy agenda and has been pioneering the renewables revolution ever since. The organisation is a highly innovative public-private, not for profit, partnership that acts as a catalyst to develop the renewables industry and transfer forty years of existing offshore oil and gas skills into renewables. AREG has also been instrumental in conceiving and facilitating flagship projects in Scotland, not least the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre.

As a membership body, AREG is dedicated to harnessing the array of energy expertise rooted in the region and channelling it into renewable energy for the benefit of its members and the local and national economy.

AREG helps its members to access business opportunities through networking, events and information dissemination. Membership is open to individuals and organisations involved in renewables who are headquartered or have significant operations in Aberdeen City and Shire. Benefits include promotional platforms, participation in members meetings, seminars and workshops, participation in joint events and exhibitions, news updates and access to market intelligence on projects, international trade and business development opportunities.

ITF is a 'not for profit' organisation owned by 26 major global operators and service companies. Its key objectives are to identify technology needs, foster innovation and facilitate the development and implementation of new technologies.

ITF is the consortium partner for the Oil and Gas sector of the new Energy Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN). The Energy KTN has been established to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across the Energy sector and will focus on networking, promoting funding opportunities and helping form collaborative partnerships across industry, academia and research.

ITF will present case studies profiling crossover projects between the oil and gas and renewable sectors.

ITM Power

ITM Power designs and manufactures Hydrogen Energy Systems for Energy Storage and Clean Fuel production.

ITM Power is committed to clean sustainable energy solutions based around water electrolysis. Our principal motivation is to engineer zero-carbon hydrogen energy systems that provide energy security and independence from fossil fuels.

ITM's electrolyser and fuel cell technologies have the potential to become the cornerstones of a future hydrogen economy based on 'green' hydrogen. Our hydrogen systems are able to convert renewable energy to a clean fuel, that can be indefinitely stored for use in transport, residential and industrial applications.

ITM has grown from its original platform of novel polymeric electrolytes (for water electrolysis and hydrogen fuel cells) to that of a technology provider. ITM now has both a strong base of intellectual property and engineering expertise for providing complete hydrogen solutions.
