Jonathan Shine Jonathan Shine - VP of Business Development & Co-founder, EVida

Jonathan has been active in the EV market for over ten years. In 2001 he founded Drivelectric, a UK based firm specialising in the deployment of electric vehicles in the UK and Europe. Jonathan is a recognised thought leader in the EV industry and has presented at numerous automotive and environmental conferences throughout Europe.  Jonathan received a degree in economics and politics from Manchester University and an Advanced Diploma in Sustainability from the University of Cambridge.


 

 

Courtenay HeadingCourtenay Heading - Business Development Director, Bladon Jets

Courtenay is a serial entrepreneur, with Bladon Jets his 4th start-up since 1985.  Bladon Jets has developed the smallest axial flow gas turbine in the world. The key component is a patented blisk technology (one piece blade disc). An application of the jet engine is a ‘range extender’ to the hybrid electric car market, resulting in dramatic weight and size savings. Bladon Jets is based on the Isle of Man.


 

 

Hugo SpowersHugo Spowers - Founder, Riversimple

An Oxford University trained engineer and entrepreneur, Hugo founded and ran a business over 15 years, designing and building racing cars and restoring historic racing cars. He left motorsport due to environmental concerns and went on to obtain an MBA from Cranfield University, where he conducted a feasibility study into bringing hydrogen fuel cell cars to market. This led him to found Riversimple. Hugo is a trustee of the 40 Fires Foundation, an open source foundation set up to help advance the development of the Riversimple vehicle. 40 Fires believes in an open source approach. By inviting others to join in developing the vehicles, Riversimple expects to speed up development times, produce more robust, reliable products, drive the adoption of common standards and drive down component costs. Riversimple has received backing from relatives of Ernst Piech, a member of the Porsche family.


 

 

 

Catherine HuttCatherine Hutt - Head of Electric Vehicles, SMMT

Catherine heads up the new Electric Vehicle segment of the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders (SMMT). The SMMT's Electric Vehicle Group addresses issues and co-ordinates the efforts of the UK EV industry. The group aims to 'set the scene' for the market to become established and grow sustainably. Aspects include; government affairs, consumer behaviour, resolving technical issues, encouraging public and private investment in the sector and being the focal point for all activity to ensure coordinated and effective progress.


 

 

Jim AsherJim Asher - Founder & COO, Coller IP Management

Jim is the founder and Chief Operating Officer of Coller IP Management Limited, which provides a range of specialist services for the commercial management of Intellectual Property (IP). Jim has developed and leads the IP valuation services within Coller IP. He has worked for a range of clients, including start ups and large companies, investors, lawyers, insolvency practitioners and public-sector research bodies; his experience in IP valuations covers a range of purposes, from due diligence, investor positioning and licence negotiation, to corporate structuring, insolvency administration and probate. A physicist by background and a member of the Licensing Executives Society, Jim has over 30 years experience of technical and business innovation, business management and commercialisation in a range of industry sectors, including transport, utilities, electronics, automotive, engineering and software.
