|Cleantech Fund Manager Platform|
Cleantech Investor Ltd., in partnership with Guernsey Finance and K&L Gates, will host Cleantech Fund Manager Platform, a morning event for companies and investors in the cleantech sector, on 13 December 2012.
The event will involve presentations by cleantech fund managers about their investment criteria and provide a valuable opportunity for cleantech companies to get inside the head of the fund managers and understand what makes them tick. The event will involve presentations about a variety of funds, focusing on different areas - including early stage capital, growth capital and funds for the deployment of clean technologies. The event aims to provide a valuable insight into the current trends and issues in cleantech investment and the challenges which companies raising funding must address.
Themes for discussion will include:
- Success stories in terms of funding (both at the company stage and at the fund stage) in a difficult environment
- The challenge of early stage funding and views of investors on technology risk vs. investment in project development
- Differences in approach of angel investors vs. venture capital investors and alternative sources of finance
- The role of government in financing innovation and / or deployment of clean technology
The morning will provide invaluable background information for companies raising funds - and an overview of the state of the cleantech industry in Europe for institutional investors considering entering the cleantech space. The event will include a presentation by Lord Paul Drayson, who was Minister of Science in the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills during the last Labour Government in the UK, during which time he launched the Innovation Investment Fund, a Fund of Funds backed by Government funds which committed over £25 million to cleantech investment.
