Cleantech Investor and Rushlight Events organised the first London Cleantech Cluster event on 16 January 2011. The event was generously hosted by BDO at its offices in Baker Street. Raphael Millar of BDO introduced the panelists and the discusion was moderated by Anne McIvor of Cleantech Investor.
Panelists were David McMeekin, Chairman of CGVP and LTF, Ian Klesmer, London Hydrogen Partnership, Niall McNevin, Director of Planning, Olympic Park Legacy Company and Gia Kroeff, Bovis Lendlease. The panel aimed to address the challenge of promoting innovation in the built environment and investigate whether London is creating a cluster of cleantech expertise in this space. The discussion focused on how the city can cultivate innovative technologies and roll out tried and tested clean technologies. An important sub-theme was the legacy which the London 2012 Olympic Games will leave for the city in terms of promoting clean technology and the extent to which the 2012 Games offer an opportunity to test out new technologies and encourage innovation.
Cleantech Cluster Events address the combined challenges of promoting innovation in clean technologies and cultivating new businesses at a grass roots level. They provide a forum for debate and interaction between the many stakeholders involved in building a Cleantech Cluster.
