BWEC, 2-3 April 2012, is a high level platform for professionals in wind generation and equipment manufacture, policy makers and investors to discuss the future potential of the wind business in the Brazilian economy – and how this fast growing industry will be financed.

Taking place in Sao Paulo, BWEC 2012 is the forum for senior decision makers in the wind industry and governments, from Brazil and around the world, to meet with investors and bankers specialised in financing wind energy and wind equipment manufacturing.

BWEC 2012 will showcase the investment opportunities emerging in wind energy in Brazil. This is the key event for investors to become acquainted with this fast growing market.

  • Get the latest statistics on wind within the energy mix of this emerging economic powerhouse.
  • Learn how the north eastern ‘Wind States’ are gearing up to meet the demand from the energy hungry south of Brazil.
  • Hear from keynote speakers from the Brazilian Government who will outline Brazil’s energy policy under the leadership of President Dilma Rousseff.
  • Discuss how the Brazilian utilities purchase wind energy under the auction system and discuss the prospects for future auctions.
  • Understand how Brazil is working together with companies from its fellow ‘BRICs’ , India and China (now the world’s largest wind market), in the sector.
  • Hear from representatives of Brazil’s ‘Wind States’ – where state governments are providing incentives to attract investment to tap the rich wind resources and encourage local economic development.
  • Network with project developers and experts from the Brazilian wind industry who have pioneered the market and mapped the resources available.
  • Meet the bankers and learn how to negotiate the preferential funding terms available for wind investments in Brazil from the domestic development banks.
  • Learn which regions are becoming wind equipment manufacturing hubs and about the opportunities arising for investors in the wind industry supply chain.
  • Gain an understanding of the innovation taking place in wind generating technology in Brazilian research institutes and universities – and investment opportunities.

The theme for BWEC 2012 is: 'Building Brasil’s Wind Business'. The conference will address the challenges facing Brazil to:

- Roll out a wind energy generation business;
- Build a domestic turbine and supply chain manufacturing hub.

Brazil’s President, Dilma Rousseff, has promised that alternative renewable energy sources, including wind, will receive significant incentives from the government and BWEC 2012 will provide an invaluable insight into industrial and energy policy in Brazil as they relate to wind - and the opportunities emerging for investors.

Confirmed speakers at BWEC 2012 include Minister of National Integration, Fernando Bezerra Coelho and Mauricio Tolmasquim, President, Empresa de Pesquisa Energética (the Brazilian Energy Ministry body which manages the energy auctions).

BWEC 2012 will have an international flavour and expert speakers will compare Brazil’s strategy to become a wind powerhouse with the historic paths followed by countries around the world, from Denmark to China. The conference will assess the attractiveness of Brazilian wind as an investment opportunity – at the levels of both project financing and equipment manufacturing – and discuss the incentives on offer for investors at the national and state levels:

BWEC 2012 - the definitive forum for investors in Brazilian wind!
